What I Do

Isaac Ezekiel performing piano at a live event

Private lessons, custom transcription, and tracks for vocalists.

How I Teach

I don’t teach piano the way most people learned it — reading sheet music note by note through a method book with no context for why it matters.

I teach you how to actually play.

That means building real technique from the start: chord voicings, ear training, rhythm, and the ability to sit down at any piano and sound like you know what you’re doing. Whether you want to play jazz standards at a jam session, accompany singers, lead worship, or just play your favorite songs at home, every lesson connects directly to what you want to do with the instrument.

I’ve spent 18 years performing professionally — weddings, cabarets, theater pits, cover bands, jazz combos, church services, and choir rehearsals. I teach from that experience, not from a textbook.

What a Lesson Looks Like

Every session is tailored to where you are and where you’re headed. A typical lesson includes:

Fundamentals & Warmup — Scales, chord progressions, or technical exercises specific to your current level. This isn’t busy work — it’s the foundation that makes everything else possible.

Repertoire — We work on 1-2 pieces that match your goals. Jazz standards, pop songs, hymns, classical pieces — whatever you’re working toward.

Ear Training — Learning to hear intervals, chord qualities, and song structures. This is what separates players who read from players who listen.

Application — Connecting what you’re learning to real situations. If you want to play in a band, we practice like you’re in a band. If you want to accompany singers, we work on following a vocalist.

I Work With All Levels

Beginners — Never touched a piano? No problem. We start with the basics and build a strong foundation so you don’t develop bad habits that hold you back later.

Intermediate Players — You can play but feel stuck. We’ll fill in the gaps — theory, voicings, improvisation, reading — so you can play with confidence in any setting.

Advanced / Returning Players — Played years ago and want to come back? Or pushing toward professional-level skills? We’ll work on whatever you need — jazz vocabulary, accompaniment techniques, arranging, or audition prep.

Kids (8+) — Lessons for younger students emphasize fun and engagement while building real musicianship. A parent or guardian must be present for all students under 16.

What I Expect From Students

I keep it simple: 15-30 minutes of focused daily practice. Not cramming the night before a lesson. Consistent, small-dose work builds real skill faster than anything else.

Between lessons, I provide:

  • Email recaps of every lesson

  • Recorded material via Google Drive so you can review what we covered

  • Weekly practice assignments with clear goals

  • Text support for quick technical questions between sessions

I invest in students who invest in themselves. If you put in the work, we’ll make real progress together.

"Isaac is as patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging as a piano teacher as he is talented as a pianist. Listening to him play and learning from him about music and piano are both absolute joys!"

— Manny V., piano student
